Privacy Policy for URL Redirect

Near North District School Board (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the URL Redirect browser extension (the “Extension”).
We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it through our compliance with this policy. This policy describes the types of information we may collect from you or that you may provide when you use the Extension and our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting, and disclosing that information.
1. Information We Collect
We do not collect, store, transmit, or sell your personal data. The Extension operates entirely locally on your device.
· Personal Information: We do not collect names, email addresses, or any other personally identifiable information.
· Browsing History: We do not track, store, or send your browsing history to external servers.
2. How We Use Information
The Extension requires permission to access page content solely to function as intended. Specifically:
· URL Reading: The Extension checks the URL of the tab you are currently viewing. This is done locally within your browser’s memory using JavaScript.
· Functionality: The Extension strictly looks for the specific local address 127.0.0.1:8020. If this pattern is detected, the Extension executes a script to redirect the browser to https://www.nearnorthschools.ca/ after a brief delay.
· No Data Exfiltration: At no point is your URL data sent to a remote server or third party.
3. Permissions
To function, the Extension requests the following permissions in your browser:
· Read and change all your data on localhost:8020 (127.0.0.1:8020) websites you visit: The Extension only has permission to read or alter data when going to a localhost site on port 8020. Additionally, the code acts only when a specific localhost pattern is detected.
4. Third-Party Links
The Extension does not contain any third party links.
5. Data Security
Because we do not collect or store user data, there is no risk of your data being breached from our servers. The safety of your information relies on the security of your local device and browser.
6. Changes to Our Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes to how we treat our users’ information, we will post the new Privacy Policy on the Chrome Web Store listing.
