This summer, NNDSB will launch a STEM camp aimed at gap closing and re-engagement for intermediate (grades 7-10) students, to gain 21st century skill competencies with links to numeracy and literacy and other curriculum linkages including sector links in automation, coding, and the environment. Students will develop their coding skills and engage in hands-on STEM activities that involve a variety of robots including drones, Spheros and Lego robotics. Students will collaborate to solve problems and use their skills to create innovative solutions to various challenges.

This summer, the Near North District School Board are offering to current NNDSB Grade 8 students a reach ahead opportunity to receive a secondary school credit prior to beginning secondary school. This course focuses on learning strategies to help students become more successful, more independent learners. Students will learn to develop and apply literacy and numeracy skills, personal management skills, and interpersonal and teamwork skills to improve their learning and achievement in school, the workplace, and the community. The course helps students build confidence and motivation to pursue opportunities for success in secondary school and beyond. A GLS1OS or GLE1OS credit will be granted upon successful completion of the credit.
Dual Credits
