Elders / Artists in Residence

ELDERS / ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE

Enhancing Arts Education and Curriculum

The Artist In Residence (education) program, in partnership with the Ontario Arts Council, afford the opportunity to have Artists, Elders and Cultural Knowledge Keepers to work alongside of students, staff and community to enhance Arts education and curriculum.

The Near North DSB targets this opportunity to more fully explore aspects of Equity, Inclusive Education and Culturally Responsive and Relevant Pedogogy through experiences in the Arts (story, dance, drama, music, and visual arts).

The Arts provide all learners with a natural outlet to explore, express, discover and interpret themselves and the world around them. With student engagement, student achievement and community relationships as our foundation, Northern Arts will continue to provide students, families, community and staff an opportunity to nourish imagination and build understanding. Arts will naturally and authentically be woven into all areas of school culture and various aspects of curriculum.
