Student and Family Support Office

Welcome to the NNDSB Student and Family Support Office. We are dedicated to supporting students, parents, and caregivers by helping you raise concerns, access support, and find solutions as quickly as possible. 

Where to Start 

Before reaching out to the Student and Family Support Office, we encourage you to first bring your question or concerns to the school directly.
Most concerns can be addressed directly by speaking with your classroom teacher, vice-principal, principal, or superintendent. Whether it’s a classroom or school-wide issue, view the Student and Family Support Office process chart.

Getting More Help 

If your concern has not been resolved at the school level or you need additional support, the NNDSB Student and Family Support Office is here to help.
Our team provides support by:
  • Escalating concerns to the appropriate superintendent
  • Connecting you with the right department for specialized support, including:
    • Student Well-Being
    • Special Education
    • Registration
    • Facilities
  • Providing guidance for concerns that are complex or involve multiple areas
Requests Handled Elsewhere
Some requests are managed outside of the Student and Family Support Office. These include:

Service Commitment 

The NNDSB Student and Family Support Office, in alignment with the service standards outlined in the Ministry’s Policy/Program Memorandum 170, will make every effort to: 

  • Acknowledge your inquiry within 2 business days.
  • Provide a full response within 5 business days.
  • If additional time is required, we will let you know when you can expect a response.

Business Hours:

  • June 17 to September 4, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm Monday to Thursday
  • September 8 to June 30, 2027, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm Monday to Friday
  • The office will not be open during school holidays or statutory holidays

What is the Student and Family Support Office?

The Student and Family Support Office is a dedicated NNDSB team that helps families navigate questions or concerns about their child’s education—especially when issues are complex or not resolved at the school level. 

Why was this office created?

School boards are required to have a Student and Family Support Office to ensure families can: 

Access support easily.
Receive timely responses.
Understand next steps when concerns cannot be resolved at the school level.
The office helps ensure concerns are addressed clearly, consistently, and with care. 

When should I contact the Support Office?

You should contact the office if:  

Your concern has not been resolved after speaking with the school 

Your situation is complex and requires additional coordination 

Your concern involves a board-level issue 

How quickly will I receive a response?

We will: 

Acknowledge your inquiry within 2 business days 

Aim to provide a full response within 5 business days 

Some inquiries may take longer if additional information or coordination is required. 

Can I get help if I don’t have access to email or a computer?
