Stay informed with school and board communication
SchoolMessenger, Edsby, Social Media, and Websites
Near North District School Board (NNDSB) is committed to educational excellence, and building strong relationships with families and the community. School-to-home communication is key to the overall success of a child, ensuring that families stay informed about activities, information, news, and events that enhance their child’s life.
In an effort to improve family and community engagement, NNDSB has several methods to communicate important information.
SchoolMessenger
Technology has made communication easier than ever before. Today, many families use email, websites, or social media when they want to receive important news. NNDSB wants you to receive information when you want and how you want, through SchoolMessenger.
SchoolMessenger is a family's notification service that lets us communicate easily with you about the things that matter most. School news and events and important and urgent news from the board can be received through a phone call and/or email.
Below is the Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) form. The CASL form relates to school-based emails that have a commercial connection such as picture day or pizza lunch orders. The intent of the CASL form is to prevent commercial spamming; if consent is not given, you will not receive any school-based news by phone or email.
You may withdraw your consent at any time by sending an email (from the address you wish to unsubscribe) to unsubscribe@nearnorthschools.ca. Please visit our CASL frequently asked questions and answers page for further information. You can also visit the Canadian Government's CASL website at fightspam.gc.ca for more information.

Edsby
Parents and guardians at every NNDSB school can register for access for this innovative, cloud-based tool to have real-time access to their children's attendance, schedule, activities and classroom work as well as an additional resource to connect with teachers and for the latest school news and information.
Simply sign up at your child's school by providing an e-mail address. You will receive a confirmation notice that includes instructions on activating your account.
Edsby works with our existing systems including staff and student Office 365 accounts.

Websites
The board and all NNDSB schools have a website. Information and news that involve more than one school will be found on the board website, nearnorthschools.ca, and school-specific information, news, and events will be posted on the schools' websites. Find your school's website here.

Social Media
NNDSB, along with most of its schools, have at least one social media account. Schools use this medium to share the happenings in the schools, important information, and resources. The board's accounts can be found @NearNorthDSB on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. To see if your school is on social media, head to their website. A complete list of NNDSB schools and their websites can be found here.
