English students at AHSS are going to find themselves in dynamic and engaging classrooms that will help them learn not only about themselves but also the world around them. Our booklist is constantly growing and changing to represent the diverse cultures, interests, and ideas that are relevant to today’s youth. Our students are given the opportunity to explore a variety of different mediums including short stories, poetry, Shakespeare, media, documentaries, and graphic novels. Students will share their knowledge through written expression, meaningful oral communication, and analysis of multi-media. We work towards building critical thinking and the individual literacy skills of students throughout our classes. The English department is the place to come to ignite a passion for the written word.
The AHSS English Department is always updating content to ensure that the literature studied is diverse and culturally relevant. Your teachers are looking forward to showing you the updated content.
