Continuing Education (Self-study, teacher-supported, independent packages, credit bearing, upgrading)
The continuing education program at LLC is for students who are 18 years of age and older. Intake is continuous throughout the year and students have the additional benefit of working independently from home or dropping in to our devoted continuing education classroom if and when help is needed. The program is well-suited for adults who wish to gain an OSSD or upgrade marks for entrance to college and university programs, while maintaining flexibility around work schedules and for learners who work better from home at their own time and pace. Graduating with an OSSD is possible through this program. As well, assistance with the application process to colleges and/or universities is available after graduation.
Personal Support Worker (PSW) (Theoretical learning in a classroom and on the floor implementation in a long-term care home)
NNDSB has partnered with Cassellholme in North Bay, Belvedere Heights in Parry Sound, West Nipissing General Hospital in Sturgeon Falls and Algonquin Nursing Home in Mattawa to provide Personal Support Worker (PSW) training in a living classroom. Participants will do their theoretical learning in a classroom then apply those skills on the floor of the long-term care home.
This opportunity is available to people aged 18 and older. Participants who do not have a Grade 12 diploma can earn up to six Ontario Secondary School Diploma credits while training to become a PSW.
