Grade 8 Parent Information

The Next Big Step: High School!

Moving into high school from elementary school is a significant milestone in a student's academic career. These transformative years allow students to explore career directions and increased elective and extra-curricular opportunities. Different levels of difficulty allow individuals to tailor their learning to their needs and strengths. At Chippewa, students can graduate with confidence, knowing they are prepared for post-secondary learning and work.

A variety of transition activities are planned to help orient your Grade 8 son or daughter during the school year. These activities/actions include:

  • Grade 6/8 Information Night
  • Visits by counsellors to grade 8 classes
  • Grade 8 transition day events such as Discovery Day
  • IB Information Night
  • IB Diploma Night for current Exelleraiders
  • Parent Information Night and Course Selection Workshop
  • And more...

Through these activities, students will gain a familiarity with their school, meet their new teachers and learn more about the extracurricular opportunities available to them. Parents are encouraged to be a part of the transition process and questions are always welcomed.
