Dear Near North Families,
Yesterday, Premier Ford officially announced that all publicly funded schools in Ontario, including those in the Near North District School Board, will remain closed to students until May 4, 2020, to further prevent the spread of COVID-19. The closure may be extended if necessary based on public health advice to protect the health and safety of students, families, and staff. At this time, we do not know if further extensions will be announced but commit to keeping you updated as new information becomes available.
The Ministry of Education announced it is now entering Phase 2 of its Learn at Home strategy to support the continuity of learning for students and families. School boards expect to receive further details and direction from the ministry, at which time such communication will be reviewed to inform the next steps.
As you know, on Friday, March 27, the Board released online learning resources so students can continue learning at home. Resources will be added to this website over the next few weeks, while the Board moves forward with implementing virtual teacher-led instruction. Please visit https://www.nearnorthschools.ca/learning-at-home/ to access these resources.
Please continue to www.nearnorthschools.ca for the most up-to-date information.
Take care of yourselves and each other, and stay healthy.
Craig Myles
Director of Education
