Afternoon Spartan Families,
I wanted to share with all of you goals that the staff have set out for our school. Our School Improvement Plan sets out 3 main areas; Literacy, Numeracy and Well-Being/Equity.
We also focus on the 4 pillars that the NNDSB set as priorities;
-Excellence in Teaching and Learning
-Excellence in Building Relationships
-Excellence in Communication
-Excellence in Innovation
We have had a strong focus on re-engagement this month as well as mental health. Classroom teachers and our resource teachers have been wrapping supports around our students in numeracy and literacy. They have spent the month doing diagnostic assessments to find out where each student is at academically.
In our Well-Being and Equity goal we are working on our student’s engagement, encouragement to take risks in their learning as well as influence them to be active learners.
You will notice that we are asking parents and guardians to participate for home activities that will support their child’s programming. This is another goal of ours to increase parent engagement.
Overall, we are well on our way and the energy level in classrooms and hallways is positive and active. The staff at Silver Birches are eager participants in their own professional development and work collaboratively together to support students.
We are off to a great start!
