I wanted to share a list for parents to start thinking about as we enter our last week before school starts. Please know this is not an extensive list, but one that will get you to start thinking about school supplies. This year we are planning on spending as much time outdoors that we are able to, so it is important that your child come to school dressed appropriately for the weather! Learning supplies and tools will need to be individual to each student this year, so please consider providing items and supplies for your student. Please note that this is not mandatory, however we are trying to eliminate the sharing of personal items! Below is a chart with some suggestions for school supplies, and personal items. The key to keeping items with their owners is to LABEL EVERYTHING!
Suggested School Supplies
| School Supply Recommendations | Personal Items Recommendations |
|---|---|
| If you can label personal supply items that would be good.
(Please remember this is not extensive and your child’s teacher will send home recommendations depending on grade/program). – pencil – eraser – ruler – markers – scissors – glue stick – pencil case/box |
-refillable water bottle (bottle filling station is available)
-a bag to store clean masks and used masks -indoor shoes -change of clothes, we will try to be outdoors as much as possible |
NOTE: All water bottles will be sent home daily for washing
Tips for Getting Ready for School
Keeping in mind that physical distancing is key to the safety of everyone, here are some thoughts and suggestions to help make an easier transition back to our classroom learning environment:
- Face Masks- Must be worn by Grade 4-6 students while in the school and on the school bus. In order to keep your child’s labelled mask germ-free send a container or bag to place the mask while eating or to dispose of for cleaning. Send an extra mask or 2 in a clean bag, as personal items tend to end up on the floor. All bags and masks need to be labelled. Masks will be coming home each evening as students taking the bus must wear them.
- Practice wearing a mask!
- Hand washing will be a big focus in schools but we ask that you please practice hand washing with your child at home as well.
- A lunch bag with reusable containers. Any recycling will be sent home.
- A labelled, full change of clothes
