An “exceptional” student is a pupil who, because of communicative, behavioural, intellectual, physical, multiple or intellectual (giftedness or delayed) exceptionalities, is placed in a special education program by an Identification, Placement and Review Committee (IPRC) of the Board. Each of these students will have an Individual Education Plan (IEP) to make the transition to and from, as well as during, secondary school positive and successful.
Identified exceptional students will be provided support through resource in consultation with the teacher, student and parent on an in-class or withdrawal basis. In addition, other students requiring academic support will be given resource assistance.
A “Student Resource Centre” has been established where students, counsellors and teachers work together to provide exciting educational opportunities.
