At the Near North District School Board, we are committed to creating safe and positive spaces that respect and celebrate diversity for all our students. In order to do this, we must begin by developing a better understanding of the diverse identities of our students. To help us in this work, we’re excited to announce that at the end of this month the NNDSB will launch our first Student Identity Survey.
During the two-week period between April 29 and May 10, 2019, parents and students will be invited to complete a system-wide survey entitled, “This is Me”. The questionnaire will take approximately 20 minutes to complete and will include questions that ask students about themselves and their experiences that connect them to school. Students from Grades K-6 will need to complete the survey with their parent or guardian, while students in Grades 7 -12 will complete the survey at school.
The survey results will be used along with other types of data to:
- better understand and respond to diverse student populations and communities;
- identify and respond to barriers to student success, inclusion and well-being;
- enhance the creation and distribution of programs and services.
A summary of the results will be available in Spring of 2019.
