Near North Schools Participate in RADICAL Literacy Initiative

On Tuesday, December 20 at 9:15 a.m., Widdifield Secondary School students once again took part in a R.A.D.I.C.A.L. initiative to promote literacy to students at six elementary schools.  This exciting literacy event, known as Read Aloud Day in Classrooms Across all Levels (R.A.D.I.C.A.L.), involved secondary students reading a holiday-themed book in every classroom, from Kindergarten to Grade 8, on the same day, at the same time.

Elementary students at E.T. Carmichael, E.W. Norman, J.W. Trusler, Phelps Central, Vincent Massey and W.J. Fricker enjoyed listening to a story, narrated from books donated and inscribed from the students at Widdifield.  Secondary students were excited to connect with younger students and deliver a message about the value and importance of reading.
