Community Use of Schools
Community Use of Schools is a Ministry of Education initiative that supports access to school space outside of school hours for not-for-profit groups.
Sites and Information
Visit our School Directory for a list of our schools with contact information. In all cases, the Principal of the school involved is the contact person. Contact the Principal for information about availability, costs, insurance requirements and an Application Form.
General Requirements
Completed application forms must be received by the school's Principal at least 14 days prior to the booking date.
Rates and charges vary by type of facility and the group using the facility. To determine what costs if any apply to your booking complete the following two steps.
- Visit our User Group Examples page to determine which category your booking falls into.
- Then visit our Community Use of Facilities Rates page to see which charges apply to your group.
All permit holders shall carry comprehensive general public liability insurance against claims for personal injury, death, and property damage or loss for an amount not less than $2 million per occurrence, with no annual or aggregate limit. The insurance policy must cover the activities of the Authorized User and the activities of any other person for whom this party is responsible. The Near North District School Board must be named as an additional insured on the policy. An insurance certificate proving compliance with this requirement shall be provided before the permit application is approved. Where there is ongoing continuous use, the insurance will contain a clause that it will not be cancelled without the Board first having received not less than 30 days written notice of such a cancellation or change.
For a complete list of rules and regulations please visit our Community Use of Facilities General Rules and Regulations page.
Schools with Available Space
Nearly all Near North schools have some space available for Community Use. Contact the Principal of the school in your area that you wish to use. The Principal will give you information about availability, and perhaps make alternate suggestions to better meet your needs.
